Landing Pages
If you asked me what can aid in web conversions most, then landing pages has to be it.
How many time have you been searching for something in Google and there is an Adwords advert suggesting that a site has the product you are after. When you click the link, you arrive at the homepage with a 4 level deep menu structure and you can’t find the product.
This is basic laziness:
Targeted Google Adwords Adverts
Google gives you the ability to create separate ads for each product you sell. If someone is looking for blue widgets, your advert should say “Blue widgets available here”. When the customer clicks this link they must land on your “blue widget” page or at the very least the “widget” section page.
Landing pages must offer up all the information the customer will need to make the purchase like delivery times, prices, methods of payment etc. Other information must only be 1 click away eg: about us, contact and privacy policies.
Strategies to create landing pages for Google natural search
This is also true for Google natural search. Choose and develop the landing page you wish Google to index for particular keywords. You must add quality, targeted content to that web page. If you sign up with me, I will reveal my websites to you where I can show this all in action.
You have to convince Google that if someone wants to buy a “blue widget”, then your site’s page is the most authoritative and relevant page that it can show.
When arranging incoming links with other websites, you would use deep linking links to bring customers directly into your landing pages. This shows Google the relevancy of these deep linked pages.
A way to think about landing pages is to try and create a sequence of mini websites. You can include extra articles, photo galleries (remember the alt tags) and product descriptions related directly to the product and its associated keywords.
